Cycling and cycling in the middle of nature can be an experience that combines relaxation with the pleasure of discovery. Lio Piccolo, Saccagnana and Mesole are hidden places in the municipality of Cavallino-Treporti, reachable only thanks to a narrow road that crosses the lagoon, showing its more naturalistic and quiet sides. Burano, in addition to its brightly coloured houses, is the undisputed capital of lace-making tradition, of which there is still a strong testimony today. In the square of the island it is possible to visit a museum dedicated to this tradition.

Torcello, instead, has a character more tied to the land, to the roots of civilization. With its archaeological excavations and finds, it is one of the founding nuclei of Venetian civilization. In addition to the archaeological museum, it is possible to visit a church dating back to the XI century around which you can see numerous finds and findings from the island, dating back to the High Middle Ages

Cavallino’s markets for the lover of local traditions

Finding a glimpse of authentic life in a tourist resort is possible thanks to the traditional markets held in the squares of the peninsula.
One day a week Ca’ Savio, Cavallino and Treporti fill up with stalls and host one of the most significant occasions of popular Italian culture. Food products, clothing, technological objects, plants… you can find everything you are looking for, immersing yourself in one of the most heartfelt European traditions.

Wander around the city centre, discovering the typical features of the area, the manufacturing skills of the local shops that display their products there or maybe some unlikely object with a very nice character, giving the right space also to the refreshment point where you can rest and enjoy a good coffee or a local wine (de gustibus non disputandum est!).

Gastronomy to spread culture

The easiest, funniest and most direct way to get to know a place is to sit at the table and enjoy its flavours. Experiencing the gastronomy of a city or an area such as the Venice lagoon can be a way to travel through the centuries by staying at the restaurant.
