A magical night with Sand & Sound 2018

On Thursday, June 21, from 9 pm we all met at the beach to dance to the rhythm of SAND & SOUND, celebrating the beginning of summer 2018.

But first, I’ll bring you back in time with me…

France, 21 June 1982. Suddenly all over the country professional and amateur musicians poured onto streets, squares, parks, gardens, museums, stations…No, it was not a revolution! The French Ministry of Culture set up a new initiative, called “Fête de la Musique” (Music Day), which was destined to become a real social phenomenon.

Don’t worry, you won’t be attending a history lesson! The time regression is over, and it was provided merely for information purposes. Since 1985, June 21 has become the “Music Day” and later, since 1995, many different cities all around Europe and the whole world have started to join this project with many open air events.

This was the beginning of Sand & Sound, one of the most awaited events of summer in Cavallino Treporti, which this year has reached its third edition.! It’s not hard to understand why this event is so successful: 13 km of live music, 30 different music areas, 22 food&drinks stands, 2 restaurant terraces, 130 artists. Pop, blues, jazz, reggae, 80s & 90s, cover bands, classical music, disco, rock, samba, rap, funky… and 6 campings which took part in this event.

Guess what? Camping Village dei Fiori and Camping Village Mediterraneo didn’t miss the opportunity. So now we’ll be telling you our magical night to the rhythm of samba and rockabilly!

We started from Camping Dei Fiori. As soon as we got to the beach, we were welcomed by a joyful atmosphere. A fresh breeze blew through my hair, making it very hard to take pictures! A stand was set up on the beach, serving delicious “cicchetti” (small samplers), and some inviting fried fish, all prepared by our Ristorante Dei Fiori! Of course such delicacy had to be paired with some good drinks. Thanks to the collaboration of SuttoWine, guests could try “Batiso Beach”, a Millesimé sparkling wine with seltzer water, ice and a slice of lime, the perfect drink to taste on the beach.

Everyone of us SeaTales went on her own to take pictures and make videos… I must admit that I encountered some difficulties: the rhythm of “Freve de Samba” was so catchy that I could not stop swaying…

Right, left, right, left… “Martinaaaa! Were were you? Come on, we have to go to Med immediately!”

We took our bikes and we rode to Camping Mediterraneo. As soon as we got there I realized I was still dancing samba in my head. However, rockabilly immediately woke me up from my brazilian dream.

The music was so good that we could not stand still! I really wanted to take of my shoes off and dance, but I still had work to do. So I had to experience dancing through the lens of my camera… Everyone was smiling: children and adults, both those dancing on the sand and those sitting on the beach chairs.

It’s true that Music Day belongs to those who play it. However, this year, in occasion of my very first Sand & Sound, I felt that it somewhat belonged to me too.
